About the Host

Joel Cook is an archaeologist and historian, born and raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He has experience as a historical researcher in topics ranging from the American Revolution, The Middle Passage, the Civil War, and Reconstruction. As an underwater archaeologist, his research interests include Africans and African Americans in maritime environments, the Transatlantic Slave Trade, and the First and Second World Wars.
